3D Pointer

You can use the 3D Pointer SolidWorks eDrawings tool pointer 3D Pointer to point to a location in all of the drawing views in drawing files. When you use the 3D Pointer, a linked set of crosshairs appears in each of the drawing views. For example, you can place the crosshairs on an edge in one view and the crosshairs in the other views point to the same edge.

The crosshairs colors (which cannot be changed) indicate the following:

Color

Axis

Red

X-Axis (perpendicular to YZ plane)

Blue

Y-Axis (perpendicular to XZ plane)

Green

Z-Axis (perpendicular to XY plane)

To use the 3D Pointer:

  1. Click 3D Pointer SolidWorks eDrawings tool pointer 3D Pointer (Sheets tab SolidWorks eDrawings tab sheets 3D Pointer) or View, 3D Pointer.

  2. Move the pointer over the crosshairs in the graphics area and drag the crosshairs.

The crosshairs position updates in each of the drawing views.

  1. Click 3D Pointer SolidWorks eDrawings tool pointer 3D Pointer or View, 3D Pointer again to exit Pointer mode.
