Line Weights

Line weights are the printed values mapped from the line thicknesses displayed on the screen. Changing line weight values affects only printed lines, not line thicknesses displayed on the screen.

You can specify line weights for:

  • System settings –   remembered from one session to the next.

  • Document settings – saved with the document.

To set line weights:

  1. Click Print SolidWorks eDrawings tool print Line Weights or File, Print.

  2. In the Print dialog box, under Options, click Line Weights.

  3. In the Line Weights dialog box, select System settings or Document settings.

  4. Type values for the line weights (Thin, Normal, Thick, and five additional line thickness settings).

SolidWorks eDrawings tip Line Weights The difference between Thin and Normal lines often appears greater on screen than with the default printer line weights.

  1. Click OK.

  2. Click OK to print the document.

 Document setting defaults

  • Documents published from SolidWorks inherit document settings from SolidWorks line weights in effect at publishing time.

  • Native SolidWorks documents do not contain line weight information. To use corresponding line weights in eDrawings:

    • In SolidWorks, publish the document.

    • In SolidWorks, save the document as a SolidWorks eDrawings document.

    • In eDrawings, modify the settings.

  • For other documents, document line weights are set to default values when you open the document. To save document line weights with the document, save the document as an eDrawings document.
